Long Island GM J.R. Holden will be named Scouting Operations Director.

Long Island J.R. Holden, Nets director of player personnel, will take over scouting and general manager duties with Brooklyn and Long Island that Matt Riccardi held before leaving for the Mavericks earlier this month, according to Emiliano Carchia of Sportando, one of Europe’s top hoops writers…

Holden joined the Nets in 2019-2020 after an illustrious basketball career in Europe and scouting stints in Detroit and Philadelphia.

Holden won two EuroLeague championships and reached the Final Four eight times in a row while playing for CSKA Moscow. He was also a member of nine consecutive Russian league championship teams. Long Island

Holden previously won national league titles in Belgium, Latvia, and Greece before joining CSKA. Holden won the FIBA Eurobasket for Team Russia in 2007, after President Vladimir Putin granted him Russian citizenship, hitting a jumper with 2.1 seconds left in the Finals to defeat heavily favored Spain.

Holden, 44, attended Bucknell University.

Holden worked as an international scout after retiring from professional basketball, spending four years with the Pistons and one year with the 76ers.
